Data downloaded from ‘black boxes’ of Air India’s Crashed AI171, investigation underway

The government announced that the data from the black box of the Air India flight, which tragically crashed and resulted in the deaths of 271 individuals, has been downloaded and is currently under analysis.

The black boxes, consisting of the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR), sustained damage during the crash, leading to worries about the potential recovery of the data. Initially, there were reports suggesting that the government might consider sending the devices abroad for forensic data extraction.

Nevertheless, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has now successfully retrieved and extracted data from the Crash Protection Module (CPM) and the memory unit. The analysis of the CVR (Cockpit Voice Recorder) and FDR (Flight Data Recorder) data is in progress.
