West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s helicopter made an emergency landing in the Kolaghat area of East Midnapore on Tuesday after deteriorating weather conditions made it unsafe to continue the journey, officials said.

The helicopter had taken off from Dumdum and was headed towards Keshpur, where Adhikari was scheduled to attend a programme commemorating freedom fighter Khudiram Bose. However, worsening weather conditions, including rain and poor flying conditions, prompted the pilot to take precautionary action and land the aircraft at an open ground in Kolaghat.

The emergency landing was carried out as a safety measure after the pilot assessed that continuing the flight in the prevailing conditions could pose a risk.
