A shocking crime involving the alleged rape and murder of a 16-year-old girl in Assam’s Hailakandi district has triggered widespread anger and protests across the Barak Valley region. The teenager was allegedly attacked inside her own home, with her family claiming that the assault was extremely brutal and that her body bore signs of severe injuries.
The incident took place in the Aloicherra area under Katlichera police station limits, where the girl was found dead at her residence on Saturday night. According to police officials, the victim’s family had gone to attend a nearby feast and discovered the horrifying scene after returning home.
The case has led to growing public outrage, with residents demanding strict action against those responsible. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crime, while forensic and medical examinations are being used to gather evidence.
Police Investigation Reveals Possible Love Triangle Angle
According to preliminary findings by the Assam Police, the motive behind the alleged crime may be connected to a possible love triangle. Investigators are examining the personal relationships of those involved to understand the sequence of events that allegedly led to the teenager’s death.
Police officials stated that the post-mortem examination confirmed that the girl had been sexually assaulted before she was murdered. The findings have added further seriousness to the investigation, with authorities treating the case as a major criminal offence.
Senior police officials have assured that all evidence is being carefully examined and that further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
Five Accused Arrested in Connection With Crime
The police have arrested five people in connection with the case, including a minor. On Wednesday, two more accused were taken into custody, identified as Monoj Das alias Rajdeep Das, aged 23, and Siraj Das, aged 18. They were later produced before a district court.
Earlier on Monday, police had arrested three teenagers, including a 17-year-old accused. They were sent to police custody for six days as investigators continued questioning them and collecting evidence.
Hailakandi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amitab Sinha confirmed the arrests and said that the investigation was progressing. He stated that while three teenagers had already been arrested, two additional accused were taken into custody on Wednesday morning. 
Protests Erupt Over Crime Against Minor Girl
The alleged crime has sparked widespread condemnation in Assam’s Barak Valley, with people expressing concern over the safety of women and minors. Protesters have demanded swift justice and strict punishment for those found guilty.
