Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has stated that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay agreed to postpone his scheduled visit to Bengaluru following his request, citing the ongoing sensitivity surrounding the Cauvery water-sharing dispute between the two southern states. The development comes at a time when the long-standing interstate river dispute continues to remain politically and emotionally charged, with both governments facing public pressure over water allocation.

Shivakumar Explains Reason Behind the Request

Speaking to reporters, DK Shivakumar said he personally requested Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay to postpone his Bengaluru visit. He explained that the prevailing atmosphere in Karnataka, influenced by concerns over the Cauvery water-sharing issue, made it appropriate to reschedule the visit to avoid unnecessary controversy.
