A criminal case has been registered against multiple content creators for allegedly spreading defamatory and misleading content targeting Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in connection with India’s E20 ethanol-blended petrol policy. The legal action follows complaints that several videos and social media posts falsely linked the minister to controversial claims regarding the country’s fuel blending initiative, raising concerns over misinformation circulating on digital platforms.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter after allegations surfaced that the accused creators published content containing inaccurate and defamatory statements capable of damaging the minister’s reputation and misleading the public.
Complaint Alleges False and Misleading Narratives
According to the complaint, the content creators allegedly circulated videos and online posts claiming that the government’s promotion of E20 petrol had caused widespread damage to vehicles and suggested that the policy primarily benefited specific interests rather than the public. The complaint further alleged that these claims lacked factual support and were presented in a manner that could create unnecessary panic among vehicle owners.
