Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has approached the Delhi High Court seeking an immediate injunction against the makers of the upcoming film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy. The actor has alleged that the project unlawfully exploits his personality and could negatively impact his reputation.
The legal action marks the latest development in an escalating dispute surrounding the controversial film, which is believed to draw inspiration from the widely publicized 1998 blackbuck poaching case associated with the actor.
Plea Seeks Halt on Production and Release
According to reports, Salman Khan has requested the court to restrain the filmmakers from proceeding with the production, promotion, distribution, and release of the movie until the matter is fully adjudicated.
The plea reportedly names producer Amit Jani, the production company, director Bharat Shrinate, and other associated individuals. The actor’s legal team contends that the film uses elements closely resembling his public image without authorization.
Concerns Over Reputation and Ongoing Legal Proceedings
Salman Khan’s legal representatives have argued that the film may adversely affect his reputation and potentially interfere with judicial proceedings connected to the blackbuck case, which continues to remain under legal consideration.
The actor’s team has maintained that any dramatization of events linked to an unresolved matter could influence public perception and undermine his right to a fair legal process.

Previous Legal Notice Failed to Resolve Dispute
Before approaching the High Court, Salman Khan’s lawyers had reportedly issued a legal notice to the makers of Kala Hiran, demanding that they halt the project and remove promotional materials.
However, the dispute intensified after the producers continued with promotional activities and released teasers related to the film. This prompted the actor to seek judicial intervention for stronger protection of his personality rights.
Film Continues to Generate Controversy
The project has attracted widespread attention due to its apparent connection with one of Bollywood’s most discussed legal controversies. Public debate surrounding the film has grown over recent weeks, with social media reactions and industry discussions adding to the controversy.
The filmmakers have reportedly maintained that the movie is not a biographical portrayal of Salman Khan but rather focuses on events that are already part of the public domain.
Court Hearing Expected to Determine Next Course
The Delhi High Court is expected to examine the actor’s request for interim relief and decide whether the film’s production and release should be temporarily restrained while the broader legal dispute continues.
The outcome of the case could have significant implications for personality rights in the Indian entertainment industry and may establish important precedents regarding the portrayal of real-life controversies in cinema.
