A wave of violence has once again shaken the conflict-affected region of Manipur, where a suspected militant attack in Kangpokpi district left at least three people dead and several homes reduced to ashes.
According to early reports, unidentified armed individuals launched an attack in a residential area, triggering panic among local residents. During the assault, multiple houses were set on fire, causing widespread destruction and forcing families to flee for safety. The scale and intensity of the incident have raised fresh concerns over the fragile security situation in the region.
Security forces were alerted shortly after the incident and moved into the affected area to assess the situation and prevent further escalation. Authorities have begun preliminary investigations to determine the identity of those involved and the motive behind the attack. However, no group has yet claimed responsibility.
The incident has intensified anxiety among residents, many of whom have already been living under heightened tension due to ongoing unrest in parts of Manipur. Local communities have urged authorities to strengthen security presence and ensure the protection of civilians in vulnerable areas.
Officials are expected to review the security framework in the district as part of efforts to prevent further such incidents. Meanwhile, search operations are likely to continue as forces attempt to track down the perpetrators and restore normalcy in the affected region.
