Tensions in the Middle East have escalated sharply after Iran launched missile and drone attacks on US military bases across the Gulf region, signaling a major escalation in the ongoing conflict.
According to reports, the strikes targeted American military installations in Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain, along with locations linked to Israel. The attacks come amid Iran’s rejection of a proposed ceasefire framework associated with Donald Trump.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility, stating that the strikes were aimed at strategic targets in response to escalating tensions.
A drone strike reportedly triggered a fire at Kuwait International Airport, damaging a fuel tank, though losses were limited. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia said it intercepted four drones over its eastern region.
Amid the escalating situation, maritime movement in the Strait of Hormuz has been impacted. Reports indicate that Pakistan-bound ships, including vessels headed towards Karachi, were forced to return due to security concerns.
In contrast, Indian-linked vessels were reportedly allowed to pass through the Strait, highlighting the sensitive and selective nature of shipping movement in the region.
