Bomb Threat Email Targets Delhi CM Secretariat and Maulana Azad Medical College, Security Forces on High Alert

New Delhi: A bomb threat email targeting the Delhi Chief Minister’s Secretariat and Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) on Tuesday triggered a large-scale security operation across the capital. Officials confirmed that both locations were immediately placed under heightened security, with bomb squads, fire tenders, and police teams deployed as part of the response.

The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) reported receiving a separate threat call, prompting the dispatch of multiple fire tenders to the scene. Meanwhile, Delhi Police stated that the email mentioned possible detonations at both MAMC and the Secretariat, forcing authorities to implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) without delay. Bomb Detection and Disposal Teams (BDDT) were pressed into service at both locations.

Senior officers, including the additional DCP (Central), ACP Kamla Market, and SHO IP Estate, supervised operations at the CM Secretariat, while anti-sabotage checks at MAMC were led by the Additional Traffic Officer (ATO) of IP Estate police station. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan assured the public that “appropriate measures have been taken to ensure safety, and there is no cause for panic.”

A team from the cyber police station has been tasked with tracing the origin and authenticity of the email. Preliminary findings suggest that the threat bore similarities to previous hoax emails and may even have been intended for a location in another state. Despite this, officials stressed that the matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness.

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), traffic police, and Special Cell have also joined the response. Entry and exit points at both sites were secured, with sniffer dogs and technical teams conducting exhaustive checks.

Police sources emphasized that all security drills are being carried out thoroughly. Officers noted that even if such messages turn out to be hoaxes, they cannot be ignored. This latest incident follows a surge in threat emails targeting schools and educational institutes, which has already put security agencies on high alert across the city.
