Rapper-singer Badshah, currently on his North American tour, went viral after using his hit number Tareefan to poke fun at US President Donald Trump’s trade tariffs. At his New Jersey concert, Badshah surprised fans by twisting the song’s original lyrics, singing: “Kinni Tariff Chahidiye Trump Ko” (How much tariff does Trump want) instead of “Kinniya Tareefan Chahidi Ae Tenu” (How many compliments do you want).
The moment quickly spread across social media, drawing laughter and applause. Fans flooded the comments with jokes like, “Next collab: Badshah ft. Trump,” and “DJ wale Badshah mera gaana baja do.”
Badshah’s lighthearted jab comes against the backdrop of tense India-US trade relations. Indian exports to the US are facing a 25 percent reciprocal levy, along with another 25 percent tariff tied to India’s purchase of Russian crude oil, effectively doubling the duty to 50 percent.
Interestingly, this is not the first time a celebrity has taken a swipe at Trump. On Bigg Boss 19, host Salman Khan seemingly made a veiled comment when he remarked, “The ones creating the most trouble are the ones who want a peace prize,” which many online users interpreted as a dig at Trump’s repeated desire for a Nobel Peace Prize.
Meanwhile, Badshah is riding high on the success of his album Ek Tha Raja, featuring tracks such as God Damn, Jawaab, and Khushnuma. He has also drawn attention for his remarkable 20 kg weight loss transformation, achieved through diet and exercise, while clarifying that he did not use Ozempic.
