Vizag: Dabang Delhi KC skipper Ashu Malik created history in the PKL 2025 match against Puneri Paltan at the Vishwanadh Sports Club on Thursday by executing a match-winning Golden Raid. Malik, demonstrating remarkable composure, secured both a bonus point and a touch point on Puneri Paltan’s Gaurav Khatri, helping Dabang Delhi claim a thrilling victory.
The Golden Raid comes into play when both teams are tied on points even after a tie-breaker consisting of five raids. Malik finished the match with a Super 10, while Fazel Atrachali earned a High Five. The match ended regulation time at 28-28, forcing a tie-breaker.
Puneri Paltan started strong, taking an early 2-0 lead. Dabang Delhi responded when Fazel Atrachali’s tackle earned them their first point. The first ten minutes saw both teams exchanging points, with Delhi holding a narrow 8-6 lead at the first timeout. Puneri Paltan soon leveled at 8-8 with a Super Tackle, but a Super Raid by Malik in the final minutes of the first half gave Delhi a 12-10 advantage. The captain continued to score, extending the lead to 18-11 before halftime, as Puneri Paltan closed slightly to 18-13.
In the second half, Puneri Paltan fought back, reducing Delhi’s lead to 19-17 and eventually taking a 24-21 advantage through an All Out. However, Dabang Delhi retaliated, narrowing the deficit to 27-28. A critical error by Paltan prevented Sachin from crossing the Baulk Line, resulting in a tie-breaker at 28-28.
During the tie-breaker, both teams exchanged points, reaching 5-5 and leading to a Golden Raid. Winning the toss, Malik executed a flawless raid, securing the winning touch and bonus point for Dabang Delhi. His Super 10 performance and calm under pressure earned the team a historic victory over Puneri Paltan.
