Tollywood superstar Allu Arjun’s grandmother, Allu Kanakaratnam, wife of legendary actor Allu Ramalingaiah, passed away on Saturday morning, August 30, at 1:45 AM in Hyderabad due to age-related ailments. She was 94.
Allu Arjun, who shares a close bond with his grandmother, was in Mumbai shooting for his upcoming film AA22xA6 with director Atlee. Upon hearing the news, he immediately rushed back to Hyderabad to attend the last rites and mourn her loss. The actor was spotted at the airport looking devastated amid tight security.
Actor Ram Charan, who was filming in Mysore, also canceled his shoot and is returning to Hyderabad to pay respects. The last rites of Allu Kanakaratnam will be held this afternoon at Kokapet. Members of the Allu-Konidela family are gathering at Allu Aravind’s residence to offer their condolences. A formal statement from the family is yet to be issued.
Allu Kanakaratnam was seen supporting Allu Arjun during difficult times, including the Sandhya Theatre stampede case in December, when she emotionally welcomed him home after he spent a night in jail.
