Donald Trump’s Name on Fake Bihar Residence Certificate Sparks Political Storm; Congress Slams EC

In a bizarre and alarming incident from Bihar’s Samastipur district, a forged residential certificate was discovered bearing the name of former U.S. President Donald Trump. Local authorities confirmed the forgery attempt and stated that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed. Speaking to ANI, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Brajesh Kumar said, “An attempt was made to create a residence certificate in the name of Donald Trump. The investigation revealed document tampering. We’ve notified the cyber cell, and legal action is being initiated.”

This incident has drawn sharp political reactions, with Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala citing the case as evidence of systemic electoral fraud in Bihar. Quoting a media report, Surjewala posted on X, calling the electoral roll revision process a “fraud” and a “mechanism to steal votes.” He wrote, “Some may laugh at this, but it exposes the rot within the system. Removing 65 lakh voters from Bihar’s electoral roll is a direct assault on democracy. This is exactly what Congress and Rahul Gandhi are fighting against.”

This isn’t the first time a fake residential certificate has made headlines in Bihar. In June, a similar case surfaced in Patna where a dog named “Dog Babu” was issued a residential certificate. More recently, in Nawada district, an application for a residence certificate was submitted in the name of “Dogesh Babu,” accompanied by a dog’s photograph. The District Magistrate ordered an FIR and a full investigation in response.

These recurring incidents of forged documentation have sparked widespread concerns over the credibility of administrative processes in Bihar, especially in the context of electoral roll revisions.
