Actor Vidyut Jammwal is poised to make his Hollywood debut in Street Fighter, a film adaptation of the well-known video game of the same name produced by Legendary.

The 44-year-old actor, recognized for leading action films like the Commando series, Khuda Hafiz, and Baadshaho, will star alongside a remarkable cast that includes Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Callina Liang, Roman Reigns, Orville Peck, Cody Rhodes, Andrew Schulz, Curtis 50 Cent Jackson, and David Dastmalchian, as reported by entertainment news outlet Deadline.

Street Fighter originated as an arcade game from the Japanese company Capcom in 1987 and achieved significant cultural impact with the release of Street Fighter II in 1991, which transformed one-on-one gaming.

This game is a one-on-one fighting experience where players choose a character, each a martial artist or fighter with a distinct fighting style, to battle opponents using punches, kicks, special moves, and combos.

The latest installment, Street Fighter 6, was launched in June 2023 and received the award for best fighting game at the 2023 Game Awards.

In the film, Jammwal will portray Dalsim, a yogi with the ability to spit fire, who is fundamentally a peaceful individual fighting to support his family.

Koji will play Ryu, Centineo will take on the role of Ken, Liang will portray Chun-Li, Dastmalchian will be M. Bison, Rhodes will play Guile, Momoa will take on the role of Blanka, Jackson will portray Balrog, Peck will be Vega, Schulz will play Dan Hibiki, Reigns will take on Akuma, and Hirooki Goto will portray E. Honda.

Kitao Sakurai, known for films like Bad Trip and Aardvark, is directing the movie, which is set to begin production in August in Australia. Legendary is collaborating with Capcom for co-development and co-production.
