On Monday, July 14, 2025, President Droupadi Murmu appointed new Governors for Haryana and Goa, as well as a Lieutenant Governor for Ladakh.

President Murmu accepted the resignation of Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) from his position as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh and appointed Kavinder Gupta as his successor, according to a release from Rashtrapati Bhavan.

This appointment of Mr. Gupta follows a new agitation initiated by the Ladakh Apex Body, which is demanding Statehood and additional constitutional protections.

Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh and Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju have been designated as the Governors of Haryana and Goa, respectively, as stated in the release. Mr. Ashok Gajapathi Raju previously served as the Union Civil Aviation Minister.

The release also mentioned that these appointments will take effect from the dates on which the appointees assume their respective offices.
