A woman was violently attacked by her daughter-in-law in Ghaziabad following a dispute between them. A CCTV recording of the event circulated widely on social media, depicting the daughter-in-law engaged in a confrontation with her mother-in-law on the staircase outside their residence.
Another woman, presumed to be the mother of the daughter-in-law, was seen standing next to her, recording the entire incident. As their argument escalated into violence, the mother-in-law attempted to take the mobile phone from her daughter-in-law’s mother. As she rose to grab the phone, her daughter-in-law assaulted her, striking her repeatedly until someone opened the door to their home.
A report from India Today identified the perpetrator as Akanksha, while her mother-in-law was referred to as Sudesh Devi. The report further stated that Sudesh Devi had to make several trips to the police station to seek justice, and initially, the police had declined to file a complaint in the matter.
An FIR was subsequently registered in the case. It was alleged that the daughter-in-law’s family had ties within the police force, as mentioned in the report.
In a separate incident, a man was reportedly assaulted by a group of nine individuals in Maharashtra’s Jalna district after he confronted them for making inappropriate comments about his daughter.
A video of the attack, which occurred in Yamuna Nagar last week, went viral on social media. It depicted the young girl begging the mob not to harm her father.
She referred to them as “bhaiya” even as two members of the group continued to beat him with sticks.
