Thirteen tourists from the same family from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, are stranded in Dubai after flights were cancelled due to the rising war like situation between Iran and Israel. The group, which includes eight senior citizens and two children, has appealed to the government of India for help to return home safely.
The family had travelled to Dubai on February 25 for a holiday and later visited Abu Dhabi. However, after missile attacks in the region and the suspension of flights, their return journey to India was cancelled. Since then, they have been stuck in Dubai and are facing serious problems with money, food, accommodation and medicines.
According to Prakash Prajapati, one of the tourists, the group heard missile explosions while they were in Abu Dhabi. Although the defence system destroyed the missiles in the air, falling debris caused fear among people. The group immediately returned to Dubai by car, but flights were soon stopped, leaving them stranded.
He also said that their hotel stay ended on March 2, but the hotel demanded extra payment to extend their stay because there was no official government order for free accommodation. When they contacted the Indian Embassy, they were told that private flight tickets cost between ₹80,000 and ₹1 lakh per person, which they could not afford.
Another family member, Vinodbhai Prajapati, said that the group includes 11 senior citizens who had brought only a limited supply of medicines. Now their medicines, food and money have almost finished. He has requested the Indian government to arrange a special flight and bring them back to India as soon as possible.
