Dr Richard Axel, a Nobel Prize winner scientist and professor at Columbia University resigned from the co-director post at university after his name emerged in the Jeffrey Epstein files, as per reports.
Since the millions of pages of the Epstein files were made public in January in which names of scientists, billionaires, politicians, prince, and other powerful figures have surfaced. In the same file, scientist and professor at Columbia University, Richard Axel name has surfaced in files who is won noble prize winner for ‘Physiology or Medicine in 2004’.
Following his name emerging in Epstein files,on Tuesday, he announced his resignation from co-director post at Columbia University.
The professor acknowledged his association with Jeffrey Epstein, describing it as a ‘serious error’ and expressing deep regret over it. In a statement, he reportedly said that he had apologised for compromising the trust of his friends, students and colleagues, admitted that he understood the problems it had caused, and added that he would work to restore that trust.
