The Embassy of India in Tehran has issued a fresh advisory on February 23, urging Indian nationals in Iran to leave the country using all available means of transport, including commercial flights. The advisory comes amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran and concerns over a possible conflict in the region.

The notice follows earlier advisories issued on January 5 and January 14, which had asked Indian citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Iran and exercise caution. In its latest communication, the Embassy advised students, pilgrims, businesspersons and tourists currently in Iran to depart at the earliest.

Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) have been asked to avoid protest areas, closely monitor local media, and remain in regular contact with the Embassy. All nationals have also been instructed to keep their passports and other travel documents readily available.

Those who have not yet registered with the Embassy have been requested to do so immediately through the official registration link available on the mission’s website. In case of internet disruptions within Iran, families in India have been asked to complete the registration process on their behalf.

The Embassy has shared emergency helpline numbers — +989128109115, +989128109109, +989128109102 and +989932179359 — and the email ID cons.tehran@mea.gov.in for assistance.

The advisory comes as diplomatic negotiations over the Iran nuclear deal remain uncertain and military activity in the region continues to increase.
