Tensions in Eastern Europe have spiked after Russia positioned its Iskander missile system in Kaliningrad, close to Poland’s border.

The Iskander-M, which can reach Warsaw in under three minutes, was deployed shortly after reports of Russian airspace violations emerged on Sunday.

Seen as a direct signal to NATO, the move represents a serious escalation in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

According to a video posted by Clash Report, the Russian Armed Forces have reportedly deployed an Iskander missile system on a highway in the Kaliningrad region, near the Polish border.

The deployment of the SRBM took place as part of the Russian-Belarusian exercise Zapad 2025, which began on September 12 and will last until September 16, according to a Ukrainian media outlet.

Russia has been stationing Iskander systems in the Kaliningrad region since 2007, though initially on a temporary basis. It wasn’t until 2018, following the rearmament of the 152nd Guards Missile Brigade, that the Iskander missile systems were permanently deployed there.

At the time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the move was prompted by what Moscow viewed as “NATO’s destructive actions.”
