Iran foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has criticised the United States and Israel over recent strikes on Iran, calling the military campaign an ‘Operation Epic Mistake’ as tensions escalate in the ongoing Iran–Israel conflict.
In a post on X, Araghchi warned that oil prices have surged and global commodities are rising sharply since the start of the conflict. He also alleged that US is planning further attacks on Iran’s oil and nuclear facilities.
“Nine days into Operation Epic Mistake, oil prices have doubled while all commodities are skyrocketing. We know the US is plotting against our oil and nuclear sites in hopes of containing a huge inflationary shock. Iran is fully prepared. And we, too, have many surprises in store,” he wrote.
The statement comes as hostilities between Iran and Israel, backed by the United States, continue to intensify after joint airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear-linked sites launched on February 28, which triggered retaliatory missile and drone attacks across the region.
The conflict has also disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy corridor, causing sharp rises in oil prices and raising concerns of wider regional instability.
