The United States has reportedly launched a series of cyberattacks targeting Iranian digital infrastructure, marking a new phase in the escalating confrontation between Washington and Tehran following recent missile and drone strikes.

Cybersecurity experts cited by regional media said a surge in hacking attempts and digital disruptions had been observed across Iran in recent days. Several news websites were allegedly compromised, with unauthorised messages broadcast on their platforms.

Among the reported targets was the Iranian religious calendar application ‘BadeSaba’, which is said to have millions of users. As per local reports, hackers displayed messages on the application warning users that “the time has come to pay the bills” and calling on citizens to halt support for the conflict, cautioning of serious consequences.

Iranian media outlets reportedly claimed that multiple government portals were also targeted, allegedly in an effort to disrupt official communications and military coordination. The reports suggested that the attacks were aimed at limiting operational capabilities and restricting the flow of sensitive information.

The cyber offensive follows coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel on sites in Iran over the weekend. Iranian authorities have reported casualties and damage, though independent verification remains limited.

The broader conflict has had regional repercussions. Iran has claimed to have targeted US military bases in parts of the Middle East in retaliation, prompting flight cancellations and disruptions across several countries. Financial markets in the Gulf have also experienced volatility amid heightened geopolitical tensions.

Separately, there were unconfirmed reports on Monday of a fire at a data facility operated by Amazon in the UAE. Some media outlets speculated about a possible strike on a cloud data centre, though no official confirmation of an attack has been issued.
