Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Sunday allegedly claimed it had struck an American vessel in the Indian Ocean as part of the fifth wave of its ‘Operation True Promise 4’, targeting US assets in the region, as per reports.

In a statement issued on March 1, the IRGC said an American naval base in the Abdullah Al-Mubarak region of Kuwait was also hit by four ballistic missiles and 12 drones.

Reports citing the IRGC statement said, “In the fifth wave of Operation True Promise 4 in the Indian Ocean, the MSP vessel, on an ammunition-carrying mission for American vessels, was hit at the Jebel Ali anchorage by four drones and has been completely put out of service following successive damage and explosions.”

The Guard Corps reportedly described the vessel as an MST-class combat support ship tasked with refuelling American naval units operating in the Indian Ocean. It claimed the ship was completely disabled following explosions at the Jebel Ali anchorage.

As per reports, the MST-class combat support ship, on a mission as a refuelling tanker for American vessels in the Indian Ocean region, was hit by Iranian Qadr 380 missiles.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump issued a fresh warning to Iran after confirming the death of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. His remarks came after the IRGC vowed severe punishment against those it described as the “murderers” of the Supreme Leader.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump warned Tehran against any retaliatory action.

“Iran just stated that they are going to hit very hard today, harder than they have ever hit before. THEY BETTER NOT DO THAT, HOWEVER, BECAUSE IF THEY DO, WE WILL HIT THEM WITH A FORCE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE!” he wrote.
