At least 72 tigers have died in the past two weeks at tourist parks in northern Thailand due to a virus outbreak, as per reports. Local authorities reportedly confirmed that the virus does not spread to humans and there is no danger to visitors.

The deaths happened at several tiger parks in the northern region, including areas near Chiang Mai. Officials said veterinarians are working to identify the exact virus and stop it from spreading further. The sick animals showed signs of weakness, high fever, and breathing problems before they died.

The Thai Department of National Parks has temporarily closed some tiger enclosures to control the infection. They are testing the remaining tigers and keeping them-under close observation. Strict safety and hygiene rules have also been introduced inside the parks.

Authorities are reportedly checking food supplies, water sources and contact between animals to find the exact cause.

Tourist parks in Thailand are popular for allowing visitors to see and take pictures with tigers. However, animal rights groups have raised concerns about animal health and safety after this incident.

Officials have assured the public that the outbreak is limited to animals and there is no evidence that it can infect people investigations are still going on.
