Mumbai Police have launched an intensive investigation after Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Rohit Shetty received yet another threat message, allegedly from an individual claiming links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The development has raised serious concerns over the safety of high-profile personalities and their staff, prompting authorities to further tighten security arrangements.
According to police sources, the latest threat was delivered through an audio message sent via a messaging platform. The sender reportedly warned of severe consequences and claimed to possess detailed information about the movements and identities of staff members associated with both Singh and Shetty. The tone and content of the message were described as “explicitly threatening” and intended to instil fear.
Pattern of Threats Raises Alarm
This is not the first time that the actor and the filmmaker have been targeted. Investigators say the latest message appears to follow a disturbing pattern of intimidation aimed at prominent figures in the Hindi film industry. Law enforcement agencies are currently examining whether the threat is genuine or part of a series of copycat attempts designed to exploit public fear surrounding organised crime networks.
Officials familiar with the investigation stated that the threat referenced previous incidents and attempted to establish credibility by invoking the name of a known criminal syndicate. Cyber and technical teams have been tasked with tracing the origin of the audio message and verifying the identity of the sender.

Security Stepped Up Across Mumbai
In response, Mumbai Police have significantly enhanced security at the residences and work locations of both celebrities. Additional personnel have been deployed, access points have been monitored, and routine movement protocols have been reviewed. Police sources confirmed that protection has also been extended to key members of their personal staff, given the nature of the threat.
Senior officers from the Crime Branch are overseeing the case, while coordination has been established with intelligence and cybercrime units to ensure a multi-layered investigation.
Copycat Threats Under Scanner
Police officials cautioned against jumping to conclusions, noting that several recent threats targeting celebrities have later turned out to be hoaxes or impersonation attempts. However, given the history of criminal intimidation linked to organised gangs, authorities are treating the matter with utmost seriousness.
Investigators are analysing the language, voice pattern, and technical metadata of the message to determine whether it has any direct or indirect connection to known gang operatives or sympathisers.
Broader Law and Order Concerns
The incident has once again highlighted the growing challenge faced by law enforcement in tackling threats issued using digital platforms. The ease of anonymous communication has made it increasingly difficult to distinguish between real danger and psychological intimidation, officials said.
The Maharashtra Police reiterated that maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens, including public figures, remains a top priority. Authorities have urged people not to panic and assured that all necessary steps are being taken to neutralise potential risks.
Industry on Edge
The renewed threat has caused unease within Bollywood, with several production houses and artists reportedly reviewing their security arrangements. While neither Ranveer Singh nor Rohit Shetty has issued a public statement, sources close to them indicated full cooperation with the police investigation.
The probe is ongoing, and officials said further action would be taken once the authenticity and origin of the threat are conclusively established.
