Three members of British Airways’ cabin crew were hospitalised in Los Angeles after unknowingly eating cannabis-infused gummies reportedly handed to them by a passenger.

The incident occurred after a flight from Heathrow landed in LA last week. According to reports, the crew consumed the sweets while travelling on a bus to their hotel, unaware that the gummies allegedly contained up to 300mg of THC, the psychoactive compound in marijuana. Soon after, they began experiencing unusual symptoms, including a sense of detachment and panic.

By the time they reached the hotel, three crew members felt severely unwell and frightened as their condition escalated. They were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

While the affected staff received treatment, the airline arranged for a replacement crew to operate the return service to London. The unwell crew members later returned to the UK as passengers on a different flight.

British Airways has begun efforts to identify the passenger who is believed to have provided the edibles.

In a statement, the airline said a small number of crew members felt unwell at their hotel but have since recovered. It added that a standby team operated the return flight and that customers were not impacted
