In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through Somthana village, a woman and her younger brother-in-law have been arrested for allegedly murdering her husband and disposing of his body in a reservoir. Police say the killing was driven by an illicit relationship between the two accused, which the husband had recently uncovered and strongly opposed.
Husband Went Missing in October; Wife Filed Complaint
The victim has been identified as Parmeshwar “Parmeshwar Ram” Tayade, 30, a resident of Somthana in Badnapur tehsil. On October 15, his wife Manisha Tayade, 25, filed a missing person’s report at Badnapur police station, claiming he had vanished without a trace. At the time, neither family nor police suspected her involvement.
Body Discovered Wrapped in Polythene
Nearly a month later, on November 12, fishermen noticed a human body floating in the Wala–Somthana reservoir. Police retrieved the remains, finding them wrapped in a polythene sheet and weighed down with stones, indicating an attempt to conceal the crime. Despite decomposition, the body was identified as Parmeshwar’s.
Investigation Reveals Illicit Affair
During questioning, Manisha and Dnyaneshwar Tayade, 28—the victim’s younger brother—gave conflicting statements. Their inconsistencies led police to intensify interrogation. Investigators say the two eventually confessed to being in a relationship and admitted that Parmeshwar had confronted them about it, which escalated tension within the family.
According to police sources, Parmeshwar’s opposition to the affair became the primary motive for the murder.

How the Murder Was Executed
The investigation suggests the crime was planned. Police believe that on the night Parmeshwar went missing:
- Dnyaneshwar assaulted him with a stone during a heated confrontation.
- While Parmeshwar was still alive, Manisha allegedly strangled him using a piece of cloth.
- The duo then wrapped the body in polythene, tied it with stones, and transported it to the reservoir under the cover of darkness.
Some forensic observations indicate that additional blunt-force injuries may have been inflicted.
Case Registered Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
The Badnapur police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Both accused are currently in police custody as the investigation continues, including forensic analysis and reconstruction of the crime sequence.
Village Shocked; Family Devastated
The crime has left Somthana village deeply unsettled. Parmeshwar leaves behind two children and his father, who are struggling to cope with the brutal nature of the incident and the involvement of close family members.
Police officials described the case as one of the most chilling examples of domestic betrayal reported in the region in recent times.
