Amit Shah Switches to Zoho Mail, Takes a Veiled Dig at Trump with “Thank You for Your Kind Attention”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has officially migrated his official email account from Gmail to Zoho Mail, marking a significant endorsement of India’s indigenous technology platforms. The transition, however, gained attention for another reason — Shah’s closing line in his announcement, which many perceived as a subtle reference to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s signature communication style.

In a formal post on social media, Shah wrote, “I have switched to Zoho Mail. Kindly note the change in my email address. My new email address is amitshah.bjp@zohomail.in. For future correspondence via mail, kindly use this address. Thank you for your kind attention to this matter.”

The phrase “thank you for your kind attention,” frequently used by Trump in his statements and letters, sparked curiosity among observers, prompting speculation that Shah’s choice of words might have been an intentional nod — or a light-hearted dig — at the former U.S. President.

Beyond the humorous undertones, the move underscores the Indian government’s growing emphasis on digital self-reliance and the adoption of Made-in-India technology solutions. Zoho, a Chennai-based global software company, has been at the forefront of promoting indigenous enterprise tools. Shah’s decision to switch to Zoho Mail is being viewed as a powerful symbolic gesture promoting Indian innovation and reducing dependency on foreign digital platforms.

Following the announcement, Zoho’s leadership expressed appreciation for the Home Minister’s decision, calling it a “strong endorsement” of the company’s secure and privacy-focused communication tools. Industry analysts also noted that Shah’s move could inspire more government departments and public figures to consider Indian alternatives in the technology sector.

The Home Minister’s digital shift aligns with the government’s Digital India vision, encouraging the adoption of homegrown solutions to enhance cybersecurity and data sovereignty. By choosing Zoho Mail, Shah has not only embraced a domestic product but has also amplified the message of technological independence — a theme consistent with the government’s push for Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).
