BJP Workers Drape Dombivali Congress Leader in Saree After He Shares Morphed PM Modi Image Online

Mumbai: A viral social media post featuring a morphed image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a red saree led to a political confrontation in Dombivali on Tuesday.

Senior Congress leader Prakash alias ‘Mama’ Pagare shared the edited clip on Facebook, which showed the Prime Minister draped in a saree set to a popular Marathi song, with the caption, “Sorry girls, I too want to stay in trend.”

The post quickly sparked outrage among local BJP workers, who accused Pagare of insulting the Prime Minister.

In response, BJP leaders from Kalyan district, including district president Nandu Parab and mandal president Karan Jadhav, along with party functionaries Sandeep Mali and Datta Malekar, confronted Pagare near Manpada Road in Dombivali (East).

Caught off guard while dressed in a white kurta and pyjamas, Pagare was forcibly draped in an ornate saree worth Rs 5,000, purchased earlier from a local shop.

Witnesses reported that Pagare protested verbally, but BJP workers completed the act, warning him against repeating such actions. One party member reportedly patted him on the cheek in a sarcastic gesture before the group dispersed.

Speaking to the press later, Nandu Parab defended the action, stating, “If anyone attempts to malign our senior leaders on social media, we will respond in kind. Today, Pagare had to face this in public because he disrespected the Prime Minister. Let this be a warning.”
