Two Naxalites Killed in Major Encounter with Security Forces in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur

Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh: Security forces achieved a major success on Monday after two Naxalites were killed in an encounter in the dense Moosfarshi forests of Abujhmad, located near the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border.

Acting on intelligence inputs about Maoist movement in the area, joint teams of Narayanpur Police and security personnel launched an operation early in the morning.

Narayanpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Robinson Gudiya confirmed that an intense gun battle broke out between the security forces and Naxalites. The bodies of two male Naxals were recovered from the encounter site, though their identities are yet to be established.

A significant cache of weapons and explosives, including an AK-47 rifle, daily-use items, and Maoist propaganda material, were seized during the operation.

The search is still ongoing, and the area has been cordoned off to prevent any escape attempts. SP Gudiya stated that more details will be shared once the operation is fully completed.

Officials believe this encounter has dealt a major blow to Maoist plans in the region, as the recovery of arms and explosives suggests that a large-scale attack may have been in preparation. “This success will weaken the Naxalites’ hold over the Abujhmad area and lower their morale,” said a senior police officer.

The latest action adds to a series of major anti-Naxal operations carried out across Chhattisgarh in 2025, in which 248 Naxalites have been killed so far.

Recent encounters include the September 13 Gariaband operation where 10 Naxals were killed, the May 21 encounter in Bijapur where 28 Maoists including commander Basavaraju were eliminated, and the May 15 Karregutta hills operation where 31 Naxalites were neutralized.

Authorities have intensified their efforts to eliminate Naxal violence in the state, with coordinated operations across Narayanpur, Bijapur, Sukma, and Dantewada districts, supported by CRPF and CoBRA units.
