Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s next-generation GST reforms, calling them a historic Diwali gift to the nation, including Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking at the launch of the NaMo Yuva Run for a drug-free India from his residence, CM Yogi welcomed the decision to exempt basic essentials such as educational materials, milk, curd, ghee, cheese, and other food products from taxes, while levying higher rates on drugs and wasteful expenditures.

He emphasized that the reforms would ease inflation for the poor, make education more affordable, strengthen citizens’ purchasing power, and stimulate markets, job creation, and overall economic progress.

Highlighting the welfare-oriented approach, he noted that the reforms benefit traders, provide relief to low-income groups, and support all consumers, urging every resident of Uttar Pradesh to understand their significance.

He further highlighted the ‘Viksit India – Viksit Uttar Pradesh’ campaign, which has received strong support from youth, farmers, workers, entrepreneurs, and intellectuals.

Stressing self-reliance as the foundation of progress, CM Yogi noted that a healthy society produces a self-reliant community, and events like the NaMo Yuva Run provide new direction and energy to youth.

Addressing young participants, he said that youth power, when positively directed, can transform the nation, while drug abuse leads only to ruin.
