Mumbai, September 20: Kunal Bahl, entrepreneur, investor, and Shark Tank India judge, shared an inspiring story on social media about how a career setback became a turning point in his life.
The former CEO and co-founder of Snapdeal, one of India’s largest e-commerce platforms, recounted how his H‑1B visa application at Microsoft was rejected in 2007, calling the news “crushing and numbing” at the time.
Rather than letting the rejection derail his ambitions, Bahl returned to India, where he co-founded Snapdeal, which eventually grew into a major success story in the country’s e-commerce landscape.
Reflecting on his journey, Bahl encouraged professionals facing similar setbacks, saying, “Be positive. There is something much bigger and better in store for you.”
Bahl’s post comes in the wake of US President Donald Trump’s decision to increase H‑1B visa fees to USD 1,00,000, a move expected to impact many Indian professionals aspiring to work in the US.
Bahl added, “Because of the new H‑1B rules, a tremendous number of talented individuals are going to be headed back to India. It will no doubt be tough in the beginning, but there are tremendous opportunities in India.”
His post has resonated widely on social media, inspiring entrepreneurs and professionals by demonstrating that what initially seems like a failure or setback can often lead to far greater opportunities.
