New Delhi: A fresh political storm erupted after Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s social media post alleging vote theft went viral among Gen Z users.
The post sparked a sharp response from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey, who accused Gandhi of trying to provoke civil unrest in the country.
Dubey alleged that Gandhi was working with the Soros Foundation to divide India and destabilise its democratic fabric.
“Rahul Gandhi wants to instigate civil war in India… He is working with the Soros Foundation to divide the nation,” Dubey said, recalling how India’s Gen Z has played a major role in movements such as Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption protests and the 2013 Nirbhaya agitation.
He argued that the youth of India have historically influenced political change and hinted that BJP would support a Gen Z-led movement to end nepotism in politics.
Dubey further criticised Gandhi for allegedly associating himself with youth-led protests in Nepal and Bangladesh, claiming that those movements opposed nepotism and corruption, both of which he said were hallmarks of the Congress party. He warned that if Gandhi continued to provoke Gen Z, the Congress leadership would face public rejection.
BJP leader Amit Malviya also weighed in, calling Rahul Gandhi “dangerous” and “delusional” in a post on X (formerly Twitter). Malviya alleged that Gandhi’s remarks were an attempt to destabilise India’s democratic system rather than merely challenge election outcomes.
Rahul Gandhi had earlier posted that within “36 seconds” two voters’ names were deleted, accusing the government and election authorities of systematically committing vote theft.
The war of words signals a heightened political battle between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress ahead of upcoming elections, with the youth vote likely to play a decisive role.
