PM Modi Condoles Death of Zubeen Garg; Assam CM Coordinates With Singapore to Repatriate Singer’s Mortal Remains

New Delhi/Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed his condolences following the untimely death of Assam’s renowned singer Zubeen Garg, who passed away in Singapore due to a scuba diving accident. Garg, aged 52, was widely celebrated for his hit song ‘Ya Ali’ and leaves behind his wife.

Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “Shocked by the sudden demise of popular singer Zubeen Garg. He will be remembered for his rich contribution to music. His renditions were very popular among people across all walks of life. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”

Following the news of his demise, fans, family, and friends began gathering outside Garg’s residence in Guwahati, paying tribute to the late singer.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that he is in constant contact with Singaporean authorities to facilitate the repatriation of Zubeen Garg’s mortal remains.

In a post on X, the CM stated, “I am in constant touch with the High Commissioner of India, H.E Dr Shilpak Ambule. We are coordinating to ensure beloved Zubeen’s mortal remains return to Assam at the earliest. As soon as the process is finalised, I will share an update.”

The news has left the Assamese community and the music industry in shock, as tributes continue to pour in from fans, fellow artists, and dignitaries.
