Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Wednesday inaugurated what is being called the world’s largest blood donation camp at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The event, organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad under the theme ‘Raktadan Amrit Mahotsav 2.0’, was held to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday and the organisation’s 61st foundation day.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Sanghavi said that the initiative was inspired by PM Modi’s vision of ‘Seva Parmo Dharma’ (service as the highest duty) and symbolises compassion and collective responsibility towards humanity.
He remarked, “Blood donation is not just about saving lives; it strengthens communities and helps build a healthier nation.” He further noted that PM Modi’s birthdays have transformed into days of public service, bringing smiles to millions through such initiatives.
The campaign is part of a global initiative, with over 7,500 blood donation camps being organised across 75 countries, aiming to collect more than 3 lakh units of blood. The minister also visited the camp, interacted with donors and organisers, and lauded the Parishad’s efforts for organising the event on such a massive scale.
Senior office-bearers and volunteers of the Akhil Bharatiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad were present in large numbers, making the event a grand success.
Prime Minister Modi’s tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister (2001–2014) was highlighted during the event as a transformative era that shaped Gujarat’s growth story.
His policies under the ‘Gujarat Model of Development’ focused on industrialisation, infrastructure expansion, rural electrification through Jyotigram Yojana, and social initiatives like Chiranjeevi and Balbhog schemes.
The Vibrant Gujarat Summit, another key initiative, put the state on the global investment map and helped attract major industrial projects.
