From Farmers to Fashion: PM Modi Lays Foundation of India’s First PM Mitra Park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked his 75th birthday by laying the foundation stone of India’s first PM Mitra Park in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, a project poised to turn the state into a major textile hub.

Spanning 2,158 acres, the park is being developed with state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities to benefit cotton farmers, generate employment, and boost exports.

The upcoming facility includes a 20 MLD common effluent treatment plant, a 10 MVA solar power plant, uninterrupted water and electricity supply, modern roads, and 81 plug-and-play units.

Designed as a model industrial township, the park will also provide housing and social amenities for workers, including dedicated facilities for women employees.

Leading textile companies have already expressed strong interest, with investment proposals totaling ₹23,146 crore. This influx of investment is expected to create nearly 3 lakh jobs — 1 lakh direct and 2 lakh indirect — boosting local employment and economic activity.

Following the “5F” approach — Farm, Fiber, Factory, Fashion, and Foreign — the park will streamline the entire textile value chain. Cotton farmers will be able to sell their produce directly, ginning and spinning will be done locally, garment production will be carried out on-site, and finished products will be exported to international markets.

As part of the event, PM Modi also launched the Adi Sewa Parv campaign, focusing on improving health and education in tribal regions. He distributed saplings to women from self-help groups under the initiative Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam, promoting environmental awareness.

With this ambitious project, Madhya Pradesh is set to gain international recognition as a leading textile hub, driving growth and positioning India as a global player in the textile industry.
