Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against an unidentified person after a hoax email warning of a bomb blast at the Bombay High Court caused panic on Friday.
The threatening email claimed that an explosion would take place inside the court premises, leading to an immediate evacuation and suspension of hearings for nearly two hours.
Following the alert, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and dog squads conducted a comprehensive search of the building. No explosives were found, confirming that the threat was a false alarm.

Court staff, lawyers, and judges were seen leaving the premises quickly, and videos of the evacuation soon spread across social media.
Police stated that the FIR has been registered under Sections 353(1) and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for statements causing public mischief. A cyber investigation has been launched to trace the sender’s IP address and location. Security around the High Court has been increased, and court proceedings resumed after the premises were declared safe.
