Boiler Blast & Gas Leak at Gujarat Fluorochemicals Injures 25 Workers, Probe Underway

At least 25 workers were injured on Wednesday afternoon after a boiler explosion triggered a gas leak at Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited (GFL) in Ghoghamba taluka of Panchmahal district. The injured workers were immediately rushed to nearby medical facilities, with several in critical condition due to burn injuries and gas inhalation.

According to Panchmahal District Collector Ajay Dahiya, 15 ambulances were dispatched to the site as part of an urgent rescue response. “There was an explosion in the plant, followed by a gas leak that affected as many as 25 workers. They were rushed to the Halol sub-district hospital and two private facilities — Maa and Krupalu. Those requiring advanced treatment will be shifted to Vadodara,” Dahiya said.

Sources indicated that at least five workers sustained severe burn injuries, while several others are undergoing treatment for complications from gas exposure.

Panchmahal District Superintendent of Police Haresh Dudhat and Additional District Collector J. J. Patel visited the accident site to supervise rescue efforts and coordinate the primary investigation.

Authorities have confirmed that a detailed probe is underway to determine the exact cause of the explosion and subsequent leak.

More updates are expected as the situation develops and the condition of the injured is closely monitored.
