Chandigarh: The flood situation in Punjab continues to remain grim as the death toll climbed to 51 with three more fatalities reported in Mansa, Moga and Patiala districts during the past 24 hours, Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said on Monday.
According to the minister, over 3.87 lakh people across 15 districts have been affected by the floods, while crop losses have now crossed 1.84 lakh hectares. Assessments of damage to houses and livestock are still underway and the complete picture will emerge once the floodwaters recede.

Mundian further informed that a total of 23,015 people have been safely evacuated so far, with 77 fresh evacuations in the last 24 hours. At present, 123 relief camps are operational across the state, sheltering 5,416 inmates and facilitating the rehabilitation of affected families.
Rescue and relief measures are being carried out on a war footing. The Army has deployed around 30 helicopters, while the BSF, NDRF and SDRF teams are providing ground support. Essential relief materials, including dry ration, drinking water, medicines and other supplies, are being dispatched continuously to flood-hit areas.
