Mumbai: Former India cricket captain MS Dhoni has once again left fans buzzing—this time not with a bat, but with a cinematic appearance. A teaser titled The Chase, featuring Dhoni alongside actor R Madhavan, has set social media abuzz with speculation over whether “Captain Cool” is preparing for a Bollywood debut.
In the teaser shared by Madhavan on Instagram, both he and Dhoni are seen in black task-force-style uniforms, armed with guns and wearing sunglasses, ready for a high-octane mission. The post was captioned: “One mission. Hold on tight—a crazy, explosive chase is about to start. The teaser for The Chase is now available. Directed by Vasan Bala. Coming soon.”
While the teaser gives off all the vibes of a big-budget action thriller, a report by Matrabhoomi suggests that the project is more likely a slick advertisement campaign rather than an actual film. The makers have kept details tightly under wraps.
It’s worth noting that Dhoni holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment of the Indian Territorial Army, awarded in 2011—something that aligns well with the military-styled theme of the teaser.
On the cricketing front, Dhoni played his final IPL match in May 2025 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against Gujarat Titans. Though he retired from international cricket in August 2020, he continues to feature in the IPL, with CSK retaining him for ₹4 crore as an uncapped player last season.
One of the most celebrated captains in cricket history, Dhoni remains the only skipper to have won all three major ICC white-ball trophies—the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. His possible crossover into entertainment has now added another exciting chapter to his legendary career.
