Bengaluru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms across Bengaluru on Monday, September 8, 2025. A yellow alert has been issued for the city as the Southwest monsoon remains active, bringing relief from heat but also the risk of temporary disruptions.
According to the IMD, temperatures are expected to stay mild, with a minimum of 21°C and a maximum of 28°C. The city witnessed sunrise at 6:09 AM and will see sunset at 6:26 PM. Cloudy skies are expected to persist throughout the day, keeping the weather pleasant.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) shared a seven-day forecast on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Scattered light to moderate rain is likely across the state, with heavy showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds expected in interior districts on September 10.”
Humidity levels may reach up to 91 percent, creating a damp atmosphere, especially after rainfall. The IMD has also warned that showers could temporarily disrupt power supply, cause traffic congestion, and lead to the uprooting of weak tree branches. Residents are advised to remain indoors during heavy spells and secure their homes by keeping windows and doors closed.
The rainfall is part of the Southwest monsoon, which typically spans from June to September in India. Characterised by seasonal wind reversals, the monsoon carries moisture-laden winds from the sea to the land, resulting in widespread rainfall across the subcontinent.
For Bengaluru, this seasonal phenomenon continues to play a crucial role in maintaining water levels and regulating temperatures.
