Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Saturday felicitated Champa Raspeda, the first girl from the vulnerable Didyai tribe to clear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Champa, a resident of Amlibeda village in Malkangiri district, secured admission to the MBBS course at a government medical college after successfully qualifying for NEET.
She visited Raj Bhavan accompanied by her brother, along with officials from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI) and her mentor, teacher Utkala Keshari Das, who guided her in preparation. During the interaction, the governor inquired about her academic journey, challenges, and determination to pursue a medical career.
The governor presented Champa with a mobile phone and a laptop bag, extending his best wishes for her future studies. He said her achievement was a matter of pride not only for the Didyai community but also for the entire state of Odisha. Highlighting her determination and perseverance, he noted that her success would inspire countless children from tribal and rural areas to overcome challenges and aim higher in life.
Governor Kambhampati assured Champa of all possible support for her academic pursuits, praising her as a role model for students from underprivileged backgrounds.
