Mumbai: A tragic accident marred Ganesh Visarjan celebrations in Saki Naka when a high-tension wire collapsed onto Khairani Road, killing one person and critically injuring four others. The accident unfolded during the immersion ceremony when the tall Ganesh idol procession got entangled with overhead wires, causing significant traffic congestion in the area for nearly an hour. Amid the crowded streets, the high-tension wire fell, sending shockwaves through devotees and bystanders. Emergency teams responded promptly, but sadly one person lost their life, while the four others are undergoing treatment for critical injuries.
The area near S.J. Studio on Khairani Road became the focal point of the mishap, prompting calls for stricter regulations, regular infrastructure checks, and preventive safety measures during large-scale public events.
