Mumbai Police have been placed on high alert after receiving a bomb threat on the official WhatsApp number of the city’s traffic police on the eve of Anant Chaturdashi. The alarming message claimed that 34 vehicles packed with explosives and “human bombs” were stationed across Mumbai.
It further alleged that a group called “Lashkar-e-Jihadi” was behind the plot and that 14 Pakistani terrorists had already infiltrated the city.
The sender also warned that 400 kg of RDX would be used in the planned attacks, threatening casualties of “up to one crore people” and vowing that Mumbai would “shake after the blasts.”
Police sources confirmed that the message is being taken seriously, especially considering the sensitive timing during the festival season. Cybercrime and anti-terror units have been mobilized to track the origin of the message, while security has been tightened at major junctions, religious processions, and crowded public spaces.
Senior police officials said the authenticity of the threat is being investigated and urged citizens to stay calm while promptly reporting any suspicious activity. The development follows a recent spate of threat calls and emails to Mumbai Police, raising heightened concerns about public safety during ongoing festivities.
