Ferocious Pitbull Attacks Woman in Jhansi, Bites Hand for 5 Minutes

Uttar Pradesh: A horrifying incident of a dog attack has emerged from Jhansi, where a woman was brutally mauled by a Pitbull dog outside her neighbour’s house. The incident, captured on CCTV, shows the dangerous dog gripping the woman’s hand and biting her continuously for nearly five minutes. Another woman can be seen trying to rescue the victim, but the dog did not relent.

The attack reportedly took place on Saturday evening in Chitrakoot Colony, under the jurisdiction of Sipri Bazar Police Station. The victim, identified as Hemlata, had gone to her neighbour Meera Chaubey’s house to collect some items. With the main gate closed, the Pitbull was roaming freely inside the property. As soon as Hemlata knocked, the dog lunged at her, pulling her to the ground while biting her hand.

Hemlata screamed for help, attracting the attention of her daughter, neighbours, and another woman, who struggled to rescue her from the vicious dog. After several tense minutes, she was finally freed, but suffered serious injuries. The victim is currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital. The CCTV footage of the attack has gone viral on social media, sparking panic in the local community.

The Pitbull breed is among 23 “ferocious” dog breeds banned by the Government of India in 2024, which prohibited their import, sale, breeding, and ownership due to safety concerns. Incidents involving Pitbull attacks have previously resulted in severe injuries and fatalities, highlighting ongoing public safety risks.
