Agra: A 60-year-old woman, Munni Devi, tragically lost her life after being struck by a car at a petrol pump in Maruti Estate, Jagdishpura, on Wednesday morning. She was waiting for her son, Lalit, to refuel their motorcycle when the accident occurred.
According to family members, Lalit had queued at the Essar petrol pump near Hanuman Nagar to fill fuel, while Munni Devi sat on the ground nearby. Suddenly, a car positioned behind them accelerated, hitting her and running over her with the front wheels. The driver initially stopped after onlookers screamed, but fled the scene before the family could alert the police.
Lalit rushed his mother to a nearby hospital, but due to the severity of her injuries, she was referred to a trauma centre and later taken to a hospital near Delhi Gate, where she was declared dead on arrival. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, clearly showing Munni Devi seated on the ground when the car suddenly struck her.
ACP Lohamandi Mayank Tiwari confirmed that a case has been registered following a complaint from the family. “An accident occurred at the pump involving a car. The family has filed a report, and efforts are underway to apprehend the accused driver,” he said. Munni Devi, a widow for 15 years, is survived by five sons and two daughters. Her death has left the family devastated.
