NIRF Ranking 2025: IIM Ahmedabad Tops Management Category for Sixth Consecutive Year

New Delhi: The Ministry of Education on Wednesday, September 4, announced the results of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, marking the 10th edition of the annual exercise that evaluates higher education institutions across India. Rankings were released in 17 categories, including engineering, medical, law, innovation, and skill universities. This year also saw the addition of a new category based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In the management category, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad retained its top position for the sixth year in a row, reaffirming its leadership in management education. IIM Bangalore secured second place, while IIM Kozhikode took the third spot.

The top 10 institutions in the NIRF 2025 management category are as follows:

  1. IIM Ahmedabad
  2. IIM Bangalore
  3. IIM Kozhikode
  4. IIT Delhi
  5. IIM Lucknow
  6. IIM Mumbai
  7. IIM Calcutta
  8. IIM Indore
  9. Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurugram
  10. XLRI – Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur

Launched in 2015, the NIRF ranks institutions based on multiple parameters, including teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception. Over the years, it has become a crucial benchmark for students, parents, and policymakers to assess the quality of India’s higher education institutions.
