Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated action thriller Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, hit theatres on August 14, 2025, and received widespread acclaim for its performances, soundtrack, and engaging narrative. The film went on to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2025, the third highest-grossing Indian film of the year, and the fourth highest-grossing Tamil film of all time. Fans can now catch Rajinikanth’s historic 171st movie on Amazon Prime Video, with the OTT release scheduled for September 11, 2025.

Coolie will be available in Tamil along with dubbed versions in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Set against the gritty backdrop of the Visakhapatnam docks, the film explores themes of love, loss, and emotional healing. The screenplay is crafted by Lokesh Kanagaraj in collaboration with Chandhru Anbazhagan, while Anirudh Ravichander provides the musical score. Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, the movie follows Deva (Rajinikanth), whose life is upended by the mysterious death of his companion Rajasekar. Determined to uncover the truth, Deva learns that Rajasekar was involved in a criminal smuggling operation led by Simon (Nagarjuna), revealing that Rajasekar’s supposed heart attack was actually a murder meant to conceal an invention—a specialized electric chair for disposing of bodies. Deva infiltrates the syndicate, confronts its dark secrets, and seeks justice for his fallen companion.

The star-studded cast includes Rajinikanth as Devaraj, Nagarjuna Akkineni as Simon, Soubin Shahir as Dayalan, Upendra as Kaleesha, Shruti Haasan as Preethi Rajasekar, Sathyaraj as Rajasekar, Ayyappa P.
