Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra is facing criticism on social media after a video surfaced showing her refusing a selfie with a female police officer at the famous Lalbaugcha Raja Ganpati pandal in Mumbai. The actress visited the pandal on Tuesday (September 2) to seek blessings during Ganesh Chaturthi.
In the viral clip, Shilpa can be seen walking toward the darshan area when a female cop approaches her from behind and taps her on the shoulder. The actress turns around, gestures with her finger, and declines to pose for a photo. Her security personnel can also be heard saying, “Madam, yeh mat karo” (Madam, please don’t do this).
The incident sparked outrage online, with several users calling out Shilpa’s behavior. Comments like “It would not have taken her a few seconds to pose” and “Real stars are those in the armed forces, not actors” flooded social media. Another user remarked, “Shilpa Shetty shows emotions on dance sets, but here her attitude speaks.”
Shilpa and her family are known for their grand Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. However, this year, the actress skipped bringing Lord Ganesha home due to a family bereavement, though she did not reveal further details.
On the work front, Shilpa is currently a judge on the dance reality show Super Dancer Season 5 alongside Geeta Kapur and Marzi Pestonji. She was last seen in the film Sukhee starring Amit Sadh, Dilnaz Irani, Kusha Kapila, and Pavleen Gujral. Up next, Shilpa will appear in KD: The Devil, marking her return to Kannada cinema after 18 years. The film stars Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, V Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah, and Nora Fatehi.
