Aligarh Woman Jumps Off Roof Over Dowry Harassment, Thrashed by In-Laws in Shocking Video

A horrifying incident from Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh has surfaced, showing a woman jumping off the roof of her two-storey house after being allegedly harassed for dowry, only to be beaten by her in-laws while lying injured. The shocking incident took place in Damkauli village under Iglas Tehsil and was captured on a mobile phone camera.

The victim, identified as Archana, had reportedly faced continuous harassment from her in-laws over dowry demands. In the viral video, she can be seen standing on the edge of the roof as her in-laws allegedly provoke her to jump.

Moments later, she leaps from the building in front of minor children. After she crashes to the ground, a man and a woman from her in-laws’ family rush toward her and start thrashing her while she appears unconscious. A man recording the video can be heard saying, “Mar jaane do” (let her die), as cries of a child are heard in the background.

Archana was married to Sonu six years ago. Her family claims to have spent ₹10 lakh on the wedding, yet her in-laws allegedly demanded a bullet motorcycle and ₹5 lakh in cash.

Archana’s brother Ankit alleged that she was physically and mentally harassed and that her brother-in-law behaved inappropriately with her. When she complained, she was allegedly beaten by her husband and family members. They also threatened to kill her, forcing her to jump from the roof.

The woman, who has two sons—Kanishk (4) and Aniket (2)—was critically injured and rushed to the district hospital. Based on her complaint, police have registered a case under relevant sections, and an investigation is underway.
